Dubai Run 2026: a visitor's guide
Once a year, Sheikh Zayed Road closes to cars and fills with runners and walkers for Dubai Run, part of the Dubai Fitness Challenge. This year it takes place on Sunday 22 November 2026. This short guide covers the routes, registration, getting there and where to stay.
Key facts
- Date: Sunday 22 November 2026, starting at 6:30am.
- Start: both routes start on Sheikh Zayed Road near the Museum of the Future.
- 5km route: runs into Downtown Dubai and finishes on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard.
- 10km route: continues along Sheikh Zayed Road and finishes at the Gate Building in DIFC.
- Registration: Dubai Run is free, but everyone must register in advance through the official Dubai Run page.
- Children: last year's rules said children under 13 must be registered by an adult over 21, and all children must be supervised. Strollers were allowed on the 5km route only. Check the FAQ for this year's rules.
- Who it's for: runners, walkers and families of all fitness levels.
Getting there
- By metro: roads around the route are closed, so the metro is the easiest way in. Last year the organisers advised World Trade Centre station for the 5km and Emirates Towers station for the 10km, both on the Red Line.
- Top up first: have a Nol card with enough credit before you travel, to skip ticket queues on the morning.
- By taxi: expect road closures around Sheikh Zayed Road, Downtown and DIFC. Plan to be dropped off a walk away from the start.
Where to stay nearby
- Downtown Dubai: right by the 5km finish, with Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall close by and a wide choice of hotels.
- DIFC and Sheikh Zayed Road: by the 10km finish and on the Red Line, with plenty of hotels and restaurants.
- Business Bay: next to Downtown, with many hotels and serviced apartments a short ride from the start.
Buying while you're in Dubai?
If you're looking at property during your visit, check the real return before you commit. Our calculator shows the net yield after every cost, or message us about a specific unit.
Making the most of the trip
- Weather: by late November daytime highs are usually in the high 20s°C, and early mornings are cooler. Start early, bring water and wear light layers.
- Visas: some nationalities get a visa on arrival, others need to apply before travelling. Check u.ae. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.
- Dress: running or walking kit and comfortable shoes.
- After the run: Downtown and DIFC have plenty of cafés for breakfast.
Thinking about Dubai property while you're here?
Dubai Run is a rare chance to see Downtown Dubai and DIFC on foot, from the middle of Sheikh Zayed Road. If you are thinking about Dubai property, a few days in the city lets you see neighbourhoods and commutes in person, meet agents and developers face to face and compare price, rent, service charges and vacancy. It is worth working out the net return, not just the headline yield, before you commit.
