Sharjah International Book Fair 2026: a visitor's guide
The 45th Sharjah International Book Fair runs from 4 to 15 November 2026 at Expo Centre Sharjah, just next door to Dubai. This year's theme is "Made of Stories", and Oman is Guest of Honour. This short guide covers the essentials: dates, entry, getting there and where to stay.
Key facts
- Dates: 4 to 15 November 2026 (12 days).
- Venue: Expo Centre Sharjah, in the Al Khan area on Al Taawun Street.
- Theme: "Made of Stories". Guest of Honour: Oman.
- Size: 2,673 publishers and exhibitors from 124 countries, and about 1,500 cultural and artistic events.
- New this year: Poets' Corner, the Future Hands District for children and a Cookery Corner with live chef demonstrations. The Thriller Festival runs 7 to 10 November.
- Entry: free. Registering in advance on the official SIBF site helps you skip queues.
- Opening hours: check the official site for 2026 hours. In previous editions the fair opened from 10am, with later opening on Fridays.
Getting there
- By taxi or car: Expo Centre Sharjah is on Al Taawun Street. Traffic between Dubai and Sharjah can be heavy at rush hour, so allow extra time.
- Parking: organisers say additional parking and transport arrangements are being planned, with details due before the fair opens.
Where to stay nearby
- Al Khan and Al Taawun, Sharjah: the closest option, a waterfront area near the venue.
- Northern Dubai (Deira and Al Nahda): closer to the Sharjah border than the rest of Dubai, which shortens the drive.
- Downtown Dubai or Business Bay: further away, but a good base if you are combining the fair with other plans in Dubai.
Buying while you're in Dubai?
If you're looking at property during your visit, check the real return before you commit. Our calculator shows the net yield after every cost, or message us about a specific unit.
Making the most of the trip
- Weather: November is warm but much more comfortable than the summer. Daytime highs drop from the mid 30s°C early in the month towards the high 20s by the end, with cooler evenings.
- Visas: some nationalities get a visa on arrival, others need to apply before travelling. Check u.ae. Your passport should be valid for at least six months.
- Dress: modest, comfortable clothing and good shoes for large halls.
- Some shows are ticketed, such as the family and theatre productions, so check the programme before you go.
Thinking about Dubai property while you're here?
Sharjah and Dubai sit side by side, and many people who visit one end up looking at the other. If you are thinking about Dubai property, a trip for the fair is a chance to see neighbourhoods in person, check commutes and meet agents and developers face to face. Compare price, rent, service charges and vacancy, and work out the net return, not just the headline yield, before you commit.
